FOALS UPDATE
It is a BOY :-)
Our beautiful huge boy that was born on the 26th of March made me realize that I never find the time to update this news page and so just wanted to write few updates here finally :-)
Given that I have pulled back from breeding during the last years, we did not have foals or very few. And when we did, I did not even have time to put the info on the website as they were already spoken for.
Last year, in 2021, Ducado finally had his first son born - and he was sold few weeks after being born so I still owe photo and info update to him on his page. I get to see him on regular basis and he is absolutely stunning. Once the weather gets better and he sheds his winter coat, I will update with some current photos of him. He was Hermida's first foal and exceeded all expectations. Hermida was selected as Ducado's perfect match when she was just 7 months old in Spain and so it was 7 years of waiting :-) And it was worth it. She is an amazing mom and now she will be given some time in professional training in dressage to be spoiled and have some fun before being bred again, probably in 2023.
This year, Izara had her first foal, just last week. He is incredibly big - such long legs that everybody comments on it :-) Yet, he somehow managed to be up and nursing within 30 minutes, which was so funny - and brave of him :-) He is Ducado's second son and has absolutely no white marking on him - which is a first for us, seems we always had a small white star on the forehead at the very least. I am not sure about his color yet, in all honesty, I was expecting grey as I am not even sure that Izara can have non-grey foals, but so far no sign of greying. He is still very young though so we will see in the next few weeks. So far he is looking like his daddy in color when born so even if he will grey at the end, I am pretty sure he is a black horse genetically. But, what is more important than his color, is his quality. He will be big, strong and absolutely gorgeous. He is built with athletic talent in mind and I cannot help but wonder how he will move as he is showing so much promise. Both of his parents have very elastic gates and so he has the foundation for it. Lets see what happens :-)
Oh and his personality - he is the most laid back foal we ever had - literally. Very sweet, easy going, cuddly, fun, yet loves to just sleep in somebody's lap.
Izara was a bit surprised when he was born :-) But now she is a perfect mommy and I am very proud of her. I am not sure if she will be bred again this year, I would like to give her a year off also and devote more time to her and riding and breed her again next year, but still not sure as other circumstances are still up in the air that will influence this decision.
But I am very proud of the girls. Both are Dobres daughters and both were allowed many years to mature and develop before I finally bred them - and they truly gave back. Thank you goes to both!
